Keeping with a tradition that dates back a decade, Ol’ Crimson, the well-traveled Washington State University flag, and mainstay of ESPN’s Gameday broadcasts, appeared on the University of Washington campus Saturday morning. There had been chatter all week about how the flag wouldn’t be welcome on the rival campus (because no other rival flag has ever been waved on Gameday set, right?), including one radio host on Husky flagship station KJR 950, who offered any Husky fan $100 to steal it (the tweet has since been deleted).
Gameday host Chris Fowler assured everyone that Ol’ Crimson would have plenty of security while it waved behind the set. Fowler wasn’t kidding, as Ol’ Crimson made a grand entrance, rolling through Red Square in a limousine with a police escort.
