As the 2013 college football season is about to enter week 3, I want to go back and analyze some of my picks and the reasoning behind my choices. Gambling is a tough gig and by no means am I an expert. The one thing I have learned: the more football you watch the sharper edge you will have.  Ultimately however, it really comes down to a gut feel and ones ability to think against the grain and roll the dice. This season my record rests at (18-15). With great college and pro games in the books, I cannot wait to continue my quest to make a little bit of extra cash on the sport I love. Wish me luck and good luck to you!

FORMER PICKS  IN BOLD:

week12013

Week 1:

North Carolina @ SOUTH CAROLINA -13:  Had to go with Spurrier here and a more athletic and powerful Gamecocks squad. South Carolina wins  27-10 WON

GEORGIA -2.5 @ Clemson: This was a tough game and I went with the Bulldogs who I felt were more athletic. In conclusion I was wrong and lost by half a point. Georgia loses 35-38

UTAH STATE +2.5 @ Utah: After last year, I had no doubt that Chuckie Keeton would come out on fire in 2013. Unfortunately, I lost on a 38 yard field goal with 19 seconds left. The score before 26-27, after 26-30. +2.5 wasn’t enough to pull out the victory. Utah State loses 26-30 LOSS

TEXAS TECH -4 @ Southern Methodist: This represents a game in which I rolled the dice. Coach Kliff Kingsberry had the Red Raiders ready to play behind  freshman QB Baker Mayfield and the rest is an embarrassing loss, by the Mustangs and an easy win for me. Texas Tech wins 41-23 WON

FLORIDA ATLANTIC +31 @ Miami: I don’t care who you are, 31 points is a large number to cover and after all summer to prepare for the Hurricanes, I knew that Florida Atlantic had to come out hyped up. Florida Atlantic loses 6-34 WON

ALABAMA -20.5 vs. Virginia Tech: A loaded Alabama team versus inconsistent QB Logan Thomas and a less athletic and smaller Hokies team. Two touchdown returns by Alabama helped however. Alabama wins 35-1o WON

Ohio vs. LOUISVILLE -21 : QB Teddy Bridgewater goes 23/28 for 355 YDS and 5 TDs. Louisville wins 49-7 WON

week22013

Week 2:

Ravens @ BRONCOS -7.5: QB Peyton Manning came out on fire with all his new weaponry and the Ravens defense was overwhelmed as he accounted for 7 TD. Broncos win 49-27 WON

FLORIDA -3 @ Miami: I expected the Gators to win this, however in the end Miami was much more athletic than I thought. Additionally, Florida QB Jeff Driskel played horrible. Florida loses 16-21 LOSS

San Diego State @ OHIO STATE -28:  This personally was easy money. A much more athletic, bigger and faster Buckeyes squad hammered an Aztecs team that was clearly out of their element. Ohio State win 42-7 WON

South Carolina @ GEORGIA -3.5: After losing in week two, I knew QB Aaron Murray and the Bulldogs would come out and play well in week 2 and they did. A close game, I walked away with a victory. Georgia wins 41-30 WON

NOTRE DAME +4.5 @ Michigan: I picked the Irish to win, however Michigan prevailed at home and I was wrong. The Irish aren’t what they were in 2012: Notre Dame loses 30-41 LOSS

Washington State @ USC -15.5: As a diehard Trojan fan I will never put money on USC again. USC loses 7-10 LOSS

DOLPHINS  Pick’em @ BROWNS: After a vibrant offseason of acquisitions, I felt that Miami clearly had the advantage here. My decision paid off and a pick’em bet is quite appealing. Dolphins win 23-10 WON

Giants @ COWBOYS -3: After all the drama in Dallas, they had to play well at some point and they did. Starting the season (1-0). Cowboys win 36-31 WON

Week 3 Picks:

TCU @ TEXAS TECH +3: With QB Casey Pachall done for the year, the Red Raiders will capitalize at home.

Nevada @ FLORIDA STATE -34.5: After watching QB Jameis Winston go 25/27 for 356 YDS and 4 TDs, the Seminoles should cover at home against a Nevada squad on the down.

UCLA +4.5  @ Nebraska: The Bruins start 2013 off with a bang with a thrilling victory on the road. Looks like once again they are the kings of the LA college football scene.

OHIO STATE -16  @ California: Despite having to travel across the country, Urban Meyer has the Buckeyes firing on all cylinders on the West Coast. They cover easy.

ALABAMA -7.5  @ Texas A&M: A toss up, but I feel there is no way QB Manziel pulls off a victory for the second year in a row. QB A.J. McCarron plays well and the Tide Roll.

WISCONSIN @ ASU -5.5: The Badgers come into the desert with a three headed monster rushing attack. ASU hangs but is put away in the second half.

* Still looking at NFL games but the Patriots should be able to put a beat down on the Jets tonight and cover.
