Matt Elam is a freshman defensive tackle for Kentucky and while freshmen lineman at a historically poor football program typically receive little attention, Elam is different. The guy is listed on the UK roster at a whopping 6’7″, 375-pounds.
His presence in Lexington has provoked some comparisons to another large product of the Wildcats: Jared Lorenzen. The former Kentucky quarterback somehow dabbled in professional football as recently as last winter and was on campus this week during UK’s training camp, where he sought out Elam. Keep in mind, Elam is a defensive tackle listed at 375-pounds. Jared Lorenzen was a quarterback.
