Utah State goalie Keagan McHenry had what likely will be the most embarrassing moment of his hockey career on Friday night.
With the game tied and 15 seconds remaining in overtime, Utah State was on the powerplay in their offensive zone. Denver University won the faceoff and dumped the puck 200 feet down the ice and into Utah’s net for the game-winning goal.
At first glance, it might look like Utah pulled McHenry from net to go for the 5-on-3 advantage in the final seconds of OT, but that’s not the case. In actuality, McHenry was no where near the net because he was too busy chatting up fans in the stands located beside his crease.
He attempted to scramble back and keep the puck out with a desperation dive but couldn’t quite get there in time…the damage was already done.
McHenry took to Twitter after the game to express how sorry he was with a status update, one that he has since deleted:
I am ashamed and disgusted with myself. With what happened and how I acted. I let myself and more importantly, my team down.

You feel for the guy, but that was a real bonehead mistake.
