Yesterday we told you about “WHOP”, the rap group comprised of Philadelphia 76ers who may or may not actually rap. Well, it appears we’ll never know if they do, as half the group — Khalif Wyatt, Vander Blue — was released by the team in the last 24 hours. The release of Wyatt and Blue doesn’t come as a total shock, as both were undrafted free agents attempting to make the roster.
What does come as a bit of a surprise is another player joining them in the unemployment line: Royce White. The much-maligned 2012 first round pick of the Houston Rockets was attempting to jump start his career in Philadelphia, and all signs pointed towards him making the opening day roster. White had even started flying with the team to games — something he never did with Houston.
If there’s one thing we can glean from White’s departure, it’s that Philly might be really serious about this whole tanking thing.
