It’s sad to say, but the NBA season is officially over. Instead of trashing LeBron or drooling over the Spurs, it’s time to start looking towards next season. So, what’s next for the NBA champs and the Big 3? Let’s take a look.
The Draft
The Spurs possess the 30th pick in the NBA Draft. As of now, CBS’ mock draft is predicting that the Spurs will select Jarnell Stokes out of Tennessee. With Duncan on his way out — maybe as soon as this year — and with the possibility that Boris Diaw won’t be back, the Spurs need more talent at the power forward position. But, at this point, do we really actually care who the Spurs select? It feels like they’ll be good forever.
Meanwhile, the Heat hold the 26th pick in the Draft. The Heat’s needs right now? A big man that can act as a rim protector and a point guard who isn’t Mario Chalmers. Some have Elfrid Payton, a point guard out of Louisiana-Lafayette, going to the Heat while others have highlighted Jusuf Nurkic from Bosnia as a potential selection for the Heat. But, let’s be real. The Heat’s success next season really depends on what happens in free agency.
