During an NBA game, acts of futility often don’t register beyond simple thoughts like “wow, Player X is having a bad night” or “hey, Josh Smith, stop shooting long twos”. Even historically awful performances, like the night I watched Chris Bosh shoot 1-18 at the United Center, can get lost in the moment (my excuse: I was surrounded by drunk hooligans up in the nosebleeds, so the only thing I remember vividly about Bosh’s performance was this epic flop, which was shown on the video board at least a dozen times) — and aren’t fully realized until running it back it later.
Jrue Holiday had such a performance Wednesday night, jacking up 24 shots, and somehow missing 22 of them. Again, it’s one thing to hear about it — it’s another thing entirely when you’re watching a supercut of it.
