Tracy McGrady retired from the NBA last year, but his fire to play competitive sports still rages on. During ESPN’s telecast of the game between the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, announcer Jeff Van Gundy said that McGrady was considering playing baseball:
“I think he’s going to play independent league baseball as a pitcher this year. I’m being serious. I’ve heard from sources in Houston — seriously — that he’s throwing over 90 miles per hour.”
Van Gundy elaborated that McGrady planned to join the Sugar Land Skeeters, the team that Roger Clemens briefly pitched for in 2012. Why shouldn’t he give it a try, it’s not like he could look any worse then when the greatest basketball player alive attempted to play baseball.
