The New Orleans Hornets have unveiled the logo and color scheme for their next incarnation as the New Orleans Pelicans, and rather than go for an obvious purple-gold-green Mardi Gras theme — which we admit would have potentially made them the most colorful basketball team since the Lithuanian National Team, circa 1992 — they’ve opted for an Atlanta Hawks-ish red and blue, with gold accents.
The Hornicans (hey, if Kimye can be a thing, so can Hornicans — for a few months, at least) also released alternate logos, including the Fleur-De-Lis, a symbol of New Orleans, which ties the franchise to Tom Benson’s other pro sports team, the New Orleans Saints.
