On Thursday, the New Orleans Pelicans revealed this year’s Mardi Gras themed jersey and they are definitely… bold. Not only do the jerseys eschew the team’s red, blue and gold colors in favor of purple, yellow and green but this year’s offering will also feature sleeves.
This year’s Mardi Gras jersey marks the first time that the Pelicans will wear sleeved jerseys. The last time that the Pelicans broke out Mardi Gras themed uniforms was in 2013.

The green and yellow stripes on the sleeves make the jersey look more like a football uniform than basketball apparel but the uniqueness (to put it nicely) of the color scheme works well within the specific theme of Mardi Gras.
The Pelicans plan to wear these jerseys for six games this coming season. The more I look at them, the more I like them (aside from the whole sleeve thing that needs to be put to rest immediately).
