On Tuesday, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that the team will wear a special patch honoring the late Flip Saunders.

The patch, which superimposes the name “Flip” over the Timberwolves circular alternate logo, will make its first appearance at the Timberwolves first home game against the Portland Trail Blazers. It will be worn for the rest of the season as well.
While Saunders had coaching stints with the Detroit Pistons and the Washington Wizards, he left his biggest mark on the Timberwolves organization where he coached from 1995-2005 and the 2014-15 season. In 2013, he was made team president and part-owner. Saunders passed away from cancer on Sunday at the age of 60.
