Wednesday night presented the best opportunity for the winless Sixers to get avoid the worst opening record in NBA history. They are currently 0-17, and if they don’t beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, they’re staring 0-19 in the face Friday night when they play the Oklahoma City Thunder. On the other side, the young T-Wolves are going through some growing pains of their own, as they sit squarely at the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
Considering the two teams involved, would you be shocked if I told you that — immediately following tonight’s opening tip — both teams forgot which hoop they were supposed to score on? Well, that’s what happened.
Sixers-Wolves have to restart because the teams were going in the wrong directions off the tip. Can’t make it up

Seriously. Sixers had earned a foul and Sims was going to the line with 11:44 to play and refs figured it out and had to rejump the ball — Jon Krawczynski (@APkrawczynski) December 4, 2014
In case you were wondering, the road team gets to choose which hoop to begin the game on offense.
Meanwhile, the Sixers still can’t stop passing the ball to the referee.
