Free agent forward Paul Pierce has agreed to a three-year deal for the mini-mid level with the Los Angeles Clippers. The contract pays him $3.3 million the first season and approximately $10.5 million in total with the third season a team option, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The deal reunites General Manager and Head Coach Doc Rivers with Pierce, who he coached on the Celtics’ championship runs in the late 2000’s. Pierce joins Glen Davis as another member of the Celtics’ championship roster in 2008 that Rivers recruited for the Clippers.
Pierce is a big pickup for Los Angeles and a huge loss for the Wizards. The Clippers desperately needed another wing that could shoot threes and create from the perimeter in the playoffs, and they fill that void with the Truth. Pierce may even be better suited to play power forward, allowing Rivers to go small and bombard the other team with three’s.
The deal is an absolute bargain for the Clippers. I’m surprised Pierce took the discount to play with Rivers again, but he may just put Los Angeles over the top if Deandre Jordan resigns with them.
