Former Denver Nuggets center, Nene, has been traded to the Washington Wizards in a three team deal with the Nuggets, Wizards and Clippers. The Nuggets, who signed Nene to a 5 year, $67 million contract last December, have sent him away for centers JaVale McGee and Rony Turiaf. The Clippers agreed to send Brian Cook and a second round pick to the Wizards in exchange for shooting guard Nick Young. The Clippers will look for Young to replace the injured Chauncey Billups, who is out for the season due to an achilles injury suffered earlier in the year.
The Clippers seem to be the winners of this deal, having not played Cook yet this season, they didn’t really have to give up much to get a talented offensive guard in Young. The Nuggets will rely on George Karl to find the next star in Denver, now that Nene is gone. The Wizards are left with some building blocks in John Wall, a first round pick in the draft and now a former all star center in Nene.
