It appears we were a bit premature in declaring LeBron James’ 38th career triple double last night, as the NBA has reviewed the game tape and confirmed — thanks to some (admittedly correct) bellyaching on Reddit — that one of his “assists” went through Tristan Thompson before landing in Kyrie Irving’s hands for a score (fast forward to 2:22 in the video above).

This isn’t the first time LeBron has been stripped of a triple-double. He had a rebound rescinded after his historical 52-11-10 (err, 9) performance at Madison Square Garden in 2009, therefor denying him the first 50-point triple-double since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975.
