Russell Westbrook is the all-time triple-double leader, a former MVP, and a surefire hall of fame when he’s eligible, but Father Time is undefeated.
Westbrook is in his first season with the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately, it might be his last season in the NBA, and that’s if he makes it to the end of the campaign.
“They need to cut Russ. He can’t shoot. They have no spacing when he’s on the court. Teams are literally daring him to shoot and just crowding Jokic in the paint. And when he drives to the rim, he gets so deep and out of position that he can’t hit layups. Russ needs to retire. He’s not a good player anymore,” one NBA Scout told Hoops Wire.
If this really is the end, it was a great run for Russ. Fans reacted to the scout’s take on social media.
“What?? They aren’t letting Russ be Russ tho? Jokic is turning him into a spot up shooter,” one fan said on Twitter.
“Russ has honestly relied on his athleticism for far too long in his career, without developing his shooting which could have helped him later on in his career,” one fan added.
“Stop the nonsense. Westbrook disrespect is crazy,” one fan added.
“Russell Westbrook so far this season: 4.0 PPG 11.1% FG 11.1% 3PT -37 (Team worst) Absolute,” one fan added.
“11.1% on 9 attempts per game is ROUGH. But he’s played 2 games. New team. New system. At least give him time to try and figure things out before we start this narrative again,” one fan added.
“I was told jokic makes his teammates better but instead he’s sending them into retirement,” one fan added.
“This is on Jokic, he has to be a better teammate. Set Russ up for success, he’s ruining Russ career bro!!!” one fan added.
Hopefully, this isn’t the end, but if it is what a run it was.
