When it comes to getting fired, it appears nobody is on Mike Brown’s level. The Cleveland Cavaliers’ head coach was fired after only one season with the team — his second dismissal from an NBA head coaching gig in 18 months (Brown lasted one season and a handful of games with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2011 to November 2012). If you recall last spring, owner Dan Gilbert re-hired Brown three years after famously firing him, atoning for what Gilbert referred to as a “mistake”.
Well, if the previous firing was a mistake, rehiring him was a borderline disaster. His lone season back in Cleveland was a shitshow, as the team was expected to at least contend for a playoff spot — especially with a roster full of high lottery picks.
They did not.
The Cavs finished 33-49 — five games out of the playoffs — in a historically awful Eastern Conference. At times, the team appeared to even teeter on the brink of total meltdown, as rumors swirled about star point guard Kyrie Irving sparring with shooting guard Dion Waiters. It appears Brown is taking the fall for now, but with the current dysfunction surrounding the team, it’s likely more changes are on the horizon.
Cavs just announced the dismissal of coach Mike Brown as they name David Griffin their full-time GM
