Perhaps the craziest thing about Michael Jordan is just how enduring his legacy has become since he retired.
It’s been over 10 years since Jordan last suited up for an NBA team but during that time his status as the greatest player of all time has basically become a basketball commandment. He still rules the shoe game despite the fact that His Airness spends more time running the Charlotte Hornets than he does playing basketball. Last year, his shoes lapped the field in terms of popularity ($2 billion in sales! In 2013! The next closest player-endorsed shoe brand was LeBron who managed a meager $300 million in sneaker sales) and there’s no reason to think that’ll change anytime soon. Still, considering that the last time that Michael Jordan played an NBA game, George W. Bush hadn’t even been re-elected President yet, it’s surprising that he could still cause a classroom of elementary school students to go bonkers with his mere appearance.
I mean, these kids probably weren’t even born when Jordan was on the Wizards.

Who said that kids don’t appreciate history?
