LaVar Ball doesn’t think Bronny Jr. is good enough for the JBA

I promised myself I wouldn’t get sucked into another LaVar Ball trap, but here we are.

Ball, the proud papa of LaMelo Ball and Junior Basketball Association (JBA) creator, had some choice words for LeBron James’ 14-year-old son Bronny Jr., when asked by TMZ if the young Bron could play in the JBA.

“He’s gotta try out and make sure he’s good enough. He’s not good enough. He’s only like 14 years old. … Yeah, he’s good enough for college, but the JBA is a step above that. We’re a professional league. We’re not college.”

I don’t think Ball is wrong about the age stuff, but bringing Bronny Jr. to the JBA would immediately add credibility to a league that people don’t actually want to attend in-person. 

Also, I don’t know how professional a league is that has players with ruined college eligibility who claim they weren’t paid. 

The JBA is not a professional league. Ball should welcome Bronny Jr. to the league despite his age. But, James Jr. won’t ever join since 1) It would mess up his college eligibility 2) it would be a massive step down for him. Keep trying, LaVar.
