The Los Angeles Lakers are in Boston right now, preparing to take on the Celtics Friday night in one of the least glamorous editions of their storied rivalry. So, maybe that’s why Kobe Bryant and Rajon Rondo decided to drum up interest in the game by going to breakfast together. A Redditor at r/NBA noticed the two grabbing a bite to eat this morning, and noted a third person was with them:
Just saw Kobe and Rondo at breakfast together in Boston with what looked like an agent. Possible Rondo trade destination?
A few minutes later, ESPN Los Angeles’ Baxter Holmes snapped the two of them sitting down at a table with the mysterious third individual.

So, what does this mean? Well, the first reaction is that this only fuels rumors that Rondo is interested in coming to Los Angeles when he becomes a free agent in 2015. Speculation over that scenario ramped up this morning when Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski dropped this nugget during his weekly appearance on The Home Team:
I think this Lin is a one-year player with the Lakers. He’s a backup point guard in the NBA. He’s obviously be thrust into a bigger role because of who they have [on the Lakers roster], with the injuries and with Steve Nash being out for the year. You can see that Lin’s confidence is not there. There’s not a great chemistry between Kobe and Lin, that’s obvious.
However, the more likely scenario is that the two go way back — they played against each other in two NBA Finals — and are just shooting the shit on their day off.
