Kevin DurantOklahoma City’s nightmare season continues as superstar forward — and reigning league MVP — Kevin Durant suffered yet another setback in his recovery from a preseason foot injury. Durant missed the first month of the regular season due to a broken bone, and lingering side effects (and a sprained ankle) have forced him to move in and out of the lineup ever since. The Thunder’s 122-118 win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday marked the 40th game Durant has missed.

After Scott Brooks hinted on Thursday that Durant’s latest setback — a sore foot, due to a screw that had been inserted during surgery — would keep him out longer than anticipated, Thunder general manager Sam Presti addressed the media Friday morning to give an official update:

Presti didn’t go so far to as to say they’re shutting him down, but it doesn’t sound good — for this season, at least. Meanwhile, in other Thunder injury news:

The hits just keep on comin’.
