Upon learning that their coach Mike Budenholzer had won the NBA’s Coach of the Year honors, the Atlanta Hawks made a very thoughtful gesture.
They called San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and asked him if he would deliver the good news to Budenholzer. Popovich agreed because he’s awesome and Budenholzer was obviously touched as he struggled to keep his emotions in check while recounting his call with the man who he worked with for 18 seasons in San Antonio.

Budenholzer’s sentiments on Popovich really demonstrate how classy both men are on the court and in the locker room.
“This award has a permanent spot on [Popovich’s] desk in San Antonio. He just shares it around every couple of years and lets us take a picture of it.”
