Wednesday night was Drake Night at the Air Canada Center in Toronto (side note: what night isn’t Drake Night in Toronto?), which included not only player introductions by the rapper himself, but the return of the franchise’s original purple dinosaur uniforms. At one point, Drake joined the Raptors’ broadcast team for an interview, during which they referenced the tampering incident involving his open recruitment of Kevin Durant. As an official team employee (Drake is the team’s “global ambassador”), he can’t make public recruiting calls to other players, and was reprimanded by the league for doing so.
When asked about his admonishment, Drake replied “Sterling, that’s my guy”. Obviously, Drake meant “Silver”, as in NBA Commissioner Adam Silver — not Donald Sterling, the former Clippers owner who was ousted after racially-charged comments that surfaced last spring.
