Cavs fans have understandably been through a lot this past year. They had to bear through supposed issues between two of their young star players. They missed the playoffs despite angling hard for them in a weak Easter Conference. They even had to deal with Andrew Bynum for a portion of the season.
Now, in the interest of public safety, we collectively rise to ask them to take on one more painful task.
Hire Mark Jackson to be the next head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The basketball-watching public is begging you:
The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached out to Mark Jackson about their head-coaching job, according to sources with knowledge of the team’s thinking.
Cavs GM David Griffin telephoned Jackson several days ago and the two spoke, but no formal interview has been scheduled and it is unclear how serious the Cavs’ interest in Jackson is, sources said.
It’s only been a couple of weeks since Jackson was brought back to the booth but the empty catch phrases (what does “hand down, man down” actually mean?) already has me pining for the days where Jeff Van Gundy was given free reign to rant about flops and the five billion rule changes he would implement on a game-to-game basis. Please, Cleveland. Save us from Mark Jackson.
Do it for basketball.
Do it for humanity.
