While we wait for the official news on where Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and others will be heading in free agency, the Brooklyn Nets have announced some very important news – they’re getting rid of their mascot, BrooklyKnight, indefinitely.
Actual news: Nets have informed their mascot he will not return next season, may place Brooklyn Knight character on hiatus…or worse.

In just two years of existence, BrooklyKnight gained a reputation of being one of the worst mascots in sports. Without a personality (or a face) the mascot was quite great at scaring poor children and hilariously messing up halftime shows, but that’s about it.

The Nets apparently shared that disappointment with the mascot because they have decided to can him, at least for next season. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see him again (unless he gets some sort of miraculous makeover like Pierre the Pelican did) but it’s also unlikely anyone will really miss him.
