On Thursday afternoon, Bronny James was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, which is of course where his father LeBron James has played for the past six seasons. The move has sparked outrage from fans and media who think that Bronny was only selected because of his father. Bronny’s agent Rich Paul insists that’s not the case, but fans aren’t convinced.
According to a report from TMZ Sports, Rich Paul responded to the criticism that Bronny was only selected because of his father as he claimed that Bronny would have been selected even if he was not at all related to LeBron James.
“Rich Paul says Bronny James would be in the NBA even if his name was John Smith … downplaying all the critics’ claims of nepotism playing a major role in LeBron James’ son getting drafted to the Lakers,” TMZ Sports wrote this week.
However, Paul was quickly blasted for this claim as fans quickly accused the prominent sports agent of lying.
John Smith would have stayed another year in college if we’re serious https://t.co/YRkviavtaL

Nepotism or not, Bronny will now have a lot to prove as he begins his career at the NBA level, especially considering he faces the pressure of being LeBron James’ son.
