Miami Heat players visited the White House for the second year in a row today, in recognition of their second consecutive NBA championship. As is tradition, President Barack Obama addressed the gathered media, beginning with a solid dig at Miami fan, at the expense of Miami media members: “Why don’t you make like the Heat fans in the last 2 minutes of Game 6 and leave.”
Later, Obama displayed his basketball fan acumen, when he pleaded for the team to stop yelling at Mario Chalmers so much — a comment that delighted LeBron James, who is no stranger to butting heads with the Heat point guard. In fact, Chalmers is so associated with being yelled at that there’s even a Tumblr blog dedicated to various instances of confrontations with teammates.
Finally, Obama was presented with his own “POTUS” nickname jersey, which, because he’s Chicago Bulls fan, will probably never see the light of day again. The full ceremony can be viewed here.
