It’s a known fact that NBA players love pizza, I mean, really, who doesn’t. Seriously, if you don’t like pizza, we can’t ever be friends. Ever. Some NBA players, even eat pizza right before games as their pre-game meal, not the healthiest thing to do, but it didn’t stop one guy from dropping 81 points on the Raptors. New Orleans Hornets’ rookie, Anthony Davis is no exception, he also loves his pizza, so much that you can not even mention a certain local pizzeria restaurant chain (Reginelli’s) around him without setting off his inner need for those Italian delicacies.
From Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports:
“He eats pizza, man. It’s like if anyone says, ‘P … I’ and then, ‘Pizza,’ he perks up,” Hornets coach Monty Williams said. “This dude has this fascination with pizza. It’s unreal.”
There are however, downsides to his addiction. As a NBA player, it is his job to stay in shape and eat healthy foods to help him perform at the highest level. Even though Davis is trying to gain weight to survive in the NBA, stuffing his face with slices of meat and cheese is definitely not the right way to add a few pounds. As a fellow pizza connoisseur/lover, that will eat anything with pineapple and cheese on it, I can sympathize his sacrifice. But he is from Chicago, which is the unofficial pizza city of the United States, at least that is what I have heard up here in Canada, so isn’t it criminal for him to be cheating with New Orleans pizza? That is how it works, right?
