Cleveland made a decision only the Cavaliers and maybe the Kings would make when they drafted Anthony Bennett with the first overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. But using their first pick on Bennett didn’t exactly pan out when he couldn’t get on the floor with weight and conditioning issues his first season in the league. Things worked out for Dan Gilbert last summer though when he got to reunite with his ol’ buddy LeBron James, using Bennett and last summer’s No. 1 pick, Andrew Wiggins, to grease a three-team trade with the Timberwolves and 76ers for Kevin Love.
But now, Timberwolves head coach and president of basketball operations, Flip Saunders, has decided he’s had enough with the Anthony Bennett experiment.
ESPN sources say that, in advance of Thursday’s draft, Minnesota has made former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett available via trade

I don’t know what the Timberwolves expect to get for Bennett. There was some hype around him last season after he trained with some marines, but that didn’t really help his on-court performance either. It helped him get up-and-down the court, which is supposed to be his biggest advantage as a stretch four, but he really struggled with shot selection and some mental aspects of playing at the NBA level.
Who knows though? Maybe Sam Hinkie and the Sixers or some other desperate team are willing to give him another look.
