During yesterday’s Mariners/Red Sox game, a young Red Sox fan grabbed a ball that was heading towards the left field corner. While he was initially beyond stoked to have snagged a souvenir, when he realized that the ball was actually fair and in play, sadness ensued. At the time, it was believed that the young fan simply thought the ball was foul, and didn’t mean to interfere with the game.
All was forgiven.
Let’s skip forward to today. The Red Sox and Mariners were in the middle of their final game against each other when Kyle Seager hit a ball near the left field line. Nobody interfered with the ball and the Red Sox were able to throw out Kendrys Morales at third base.
It turns out the Red Sox nearly didn’t have a chance to throw out Morales at third. Because THAT SAME KID WAS SITTING IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT AND HE — AGAIN — TRIED TO GRAB THE BASEBALL.
Only this time, it looks like his dad was able to pull him back before he interfered.
I think yesterday, all of us felt a little bad for the kid. But after this repeat performance, I’m not so sure anymore.
Also, what’s with the Dodgers hat?
