We told you earlier this week that the general manager of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans – single-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers – promised to get a prostate exam while singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch if a local girl battling cancer reached 10,000 fans on Facebook.
Well, she did…and he honored his word.
In addition to handing out 1,000 foam fingers with blue ribbons, Pelicans GM Andy Milovich went through with the stunt in the stadium’s PA booth as part of Prostate Awareness night on Thursday. As you can imagine, it was a pretty strange sight to behold…but also one for a great cause.
Fallon Emery, a 10-year old Myrtle Beach girl battling brain cancer, picked up around 5,000 fans on her Facebook page over the past week to put her over the 10,000 fan threshold. A couple fingers up the butt in front of a few thousand people is a small price to pay for more support given to a local warrior like Fallon.
If you haven’t already, you can still support Fallon by liking her page here.
