The Chicago Cubs’ Kyle Schwarber was injured on Thursday night when the Cubs took on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The injury took place during the second inning when Jean Segura hit a rope to left-center and Schwarber collided with center fielder Dexter Fowler. It was unknown at the time how serious Kyle was injured, but he had to be carted off of the field.
Shortly after it happened the MLB thought it would a good idea to toss up a post on Twitter, which included the hashtag #ChevyBaseball and applauded the inside the park home run.
The video showed off the entirety of the Schwarber injury.
We understand that the MLB has to make money off of certain sponsorships, but there was no need to post a video featuring the injury without knowing how serious it was. Someone over in the MLB social media team probably needs to rethink the next time they feel the urge to post a disturbing injury video.
This Tweet showing the initial diagnosis of the Schwarber injury was posted to Twitter almost thirty minutes later. The MLB Twitter account also retweeted that Tweet.
