It’s the end of year. So that means it’s time to hand out some hardware — Cosby Sweaters style.
In honor of the man who inspired this whole thing by designing the first Cosby Sweater, we’d thought we’d hand out an award in his name.
What are the requirements for this prestigious honor? You have be a little odd, fun, and not take life that seriously.
So, here are the finalists for the Cosby Sweaters Koos van den Akker Sports Rockstar of the Year:
Rob Gronkowski: Our Biz Development manager said that Gronk “brought Hollywood back to sports.” He’s right. Gronk knows how to spend money. He’s got some good-looking friends. He’s also got some fantastic TD celebrations.

And if that isn’t enough, he’s also a real nice guy.
The Fierce Five: Watching this team was a highlight of the Olympics. Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kayla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber pretty much destroyed the competition this past summer in London. Douglas also may have one of the best sports nicknames ever with “The Flying Squirrel.” And this photo is fantastic.
R.A. Dickey: We like weirdos here at Cosby Sweaters. This past year Dickey perfected oddity. His knuckleball was virtually unhittable for a stretch. Knuckleball, a documentary about Dickey, Tim Wakefield and the aforementioned pitch, was one of the best sports films of the year.
He’s was also a fantastic interview on the Daily Show. Best line? When Dickey referred to the “Jedi Council of Knuckleballers”
Dustin Penner: We like breakfast foods here at CS. So does LA Kings forward Dustin Penner. And any athlete that interns at Conan is pretty cool in our book.

But we have to give the final award to someone…
And it’s going to be Steve Nash
He did hilarious impersonations of Batman, the Godfather, and Jason Bourne. He may have started the newest NBA fashion trend. He’s also not afraid to accept beer from random strangers on the freeway. Congrats Steve.

(Just to note, Nash getting the award had nothing to do with the fact that he’s now a Laker.)
