A squirrel gave the Phillies-Cardinals crowd a circus show when it rushed the field during the second inning of Friday night’s game. The players took notice when fans began pointing at the squirrel climbing up the protective netting behind home plate. It continued to captivate the crowd’s attention by walking along the bar holding up the netting in place. And fans continued to watch the squirrel perform more circus tricks when it jumped down 30 feet into the Phillies dugout.
The squirrel seemed to have scampered around the dugout for a while and then bailed. It didn’t rush the field again though.
