Should Major League Baseball start thinking about a return to Montreal? Fox Sport’s Jon Paul Morosi makes a compelling argument on why Montreal is a viable option if the MLB needs to relocate a struggling franchise.
He specifically noted Tampa Bay and Oakland as two franchises that could be in danger if they can’t find a new home in the near future. Morosi believes that Montreal would be a much better market for baseball than both Tampa Bay and Oakland for a few reasons.
Morosi points out that an owner in Montreal would be able to sell the club’s television and media rights twice, in English and in French.
Morosi also points out that the Canadian dollar is now on par with the American Dollar which was not the case when the franchise relocated to Washington D.C. back in 2004.
