Triple plays are one of the rarest occurrences in the game of baseball, and they’re usually exciting to watch unfold. The Rockies, however, found a way to make them as boring as possible.
The Diamondbacks attempted a hit-and-run with runners on first and second and Paul Goldschmidt at the plate, but it didn’t work out in their favor. Jose Reyes caught his hard-hit line drive and threw it to D.J. LeMahieu who threw it to first for the (yawn) triple play.
At least LeMahieu tried to make things a little more exciting. He threw to first when all he had to do was walk two steps to tag out the third runner.
