foxsports-moments-OZZIE-v5

As the MLB playoffs approach (the Division Series will be shown on FOX Sports 1), we’re taking a look back at some of the most memorable moments in postseason history.

Today, it’s Ozzie Smith’s turn.

Smith was widely-known for his defensive play but his rare display of offensive power couldn’t have been more timely for the Cardinals during Game 5 of the 1985 NLCS. With the game tied 2-2 and the Cardinals’ season on the line, Smith came up to bat against Tom Niedenfuer. Batting left-handed, Smith hit a shot to right and ensured that the Cardinals would live to see another day. Jack Buck’s legendary call of the play also helped elevate the moment to a whole other level.

Go crazy, indeed.
