Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole had a small issue with the rosin bag on Sunday night as his team took on the Cardinals in an important N.L. central matchup. As you ca see from the above image, Cole grabbed a hold of the bag and it broke almost immediately spilling rosin all over the mound. Cole called in for a relief bag and the game continued. At the time of the leaky rosin bag, the Cole Train had held the Cardinals to no runs through eight innings.
Pirates pitchers seem to have a long and rich history of rosin bags exploding, especially A.J. Burnett.
