The New York Mets have been lauded for having the best young rotation in baseball and it’s because of things like what happened on Wednesday afternoon at Citi Field. One of their young arms, Noah Syndergaard reached into Yuniel Escobar’s body and literally stole his baseball soul with a brutal pitch. According to Washington Post writer James Wagner, he aggravated a left wrist injury on the swing but remained in the game for one more pitch before leaving.
It’s tough to rip on a dude that was injured on the play but a 96-MPH fastball that dips that far inside on a hitter is too absurd to ignore. As a result, this is Noah Syndergaard highlight, not an injury-provoking Yuniel Escobar checked swing:
