Wednesday’s game between the Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays were locked in 0-0 tie in the top of the ninth inning when Nelson Cruz blew the game wide open.
Facing off against Brad Boxberger with two outs, Cruz hit a 1-0 pitch deep enough to land in the Rays signature sting ray pool. It was Cruz’s 18th home run of the season.
Most importantly, the home run ended up being the deciding factor of the game as the Mariners would go on to win the game 3-0.
As for the sting rays, at least they got their home restored in quick order.
