As Yankees beat writer Sweeny Murti so eloquently put it, the New York Mets are “tempting the baseball Gods” with an intriguing promotion for a series against their cross-town rivals. The Mets travel to the Bronx this weekend for a 3-game series, one that could further extend a potential 11-game winning streak (with a win on Thursday over the Braves) or one that could give the Yanks a couple huge early-season wins.
The Mets are obviously betting on the former but how much? Apparently $1 per run. For every run the team scores this weekend against the Yankees, they will take $1 off select seats for their next homestand.

Their next homestand begins on April 30th with a 4-game set with the Nationals before a brief 2-game AL East series against Baltimore on May 5th and 6th. Entering Thursday’s games, the Mets are tied for 11th in baseball with 67 runs scored through 15 games. The Yankees have posted the 10th-best ERA over their first 15 games with a 3.49 mark.
