Multiple sources are confirming that New York Mets ace Matt Harvey has a partial UCL tear and will be out for the remainder of the season. This comes as a huge blow to not only the Mets, but to baseball, for Harvey is one of the best young arms in the game and was in consideration for the National League Cy Young Award.
This is a quite a huge surprise for the Mets considering they’ve has such a successful run over the past few years *cough* – but then again, Mets rhymes with Jets, so…
No decision has been made yet as to whether Harvey will undergo Tommy John surgery, but as beat writer Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Giants characterizes it:
“I rehabbed my torn UCL without Tommy John and it worked out great,” said no pitcher ever.

Earlier this year leading up to the MLB All-Star Game, started by Harvey in his home stadium of Citi Field, Jimmy Fallon put together a segment where “Matt Harvey Asks New Yorkers About Matt Harvey” which yielded hilarious results. Jump to the 3:10 mark and you’ll see a young kid that evidently knows more than Mets manager Terry Collins and GM Sandy Alderson.
