Bringing a glove to the ballpark as a grown adult is frowned upon, but it’s probably more accepted than throwing your hat over the railing to catch home runs like a weirdo.
At Safeco Field on Monday, there happened to be two weirdos who did just that. The first instance was in the top of the first inning when a fan threw his hat at an Adam Jones homer to center field and looked baffled when he realized the hat didn’t catch the ball and magically fly back up into his hands. The second hat-throwing hopeful tried his luck in the sixth inning on a Chris Davis homer near the same area, and no he didn’t come any closer to succeeding.
