As former United States President Donald Trump gears up for the upcoming presidential election against Joe Biden, it sounds like Trump has a pretty significant supporter backing him: New York Yankees legendary relief pitcher Mariano Rivera.
During a recent appearance on WABC Radio’s “Sid & Friends” with Sid Rosenberg, New York Yankees legend Mariano Rivera opened up about his relationship with Donald Trump as he revealed that he will be voting for Trump in the upcoming presidential election because he views Trump as a friend.
“President Trump, he’s my friend,” the all-time Major League Baseball saves leader said according to Fox News. “I can’t deny that. I will tell that to anyone. Before he was the president, he was my friend. Because of that, I’m going to vote for him.”
Obviously, it’s pretty significant news that the legendary pitcher is supporting Trump in the upcoming election, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Rivera and Trump do have a bit of a history together as Trump even awarded Rivera with the Presidential Medal of Freedom back in 2019, calling Rivera “maybe the greatest pitcher of all time.” And it’s clear that Rivera will now be supporting him in this election.
