During the seventh inning of last night’s Yankees-Blue Jays game, a father caught a foul ball off the bat of Derek Jeter and decided to give it to his young daughter. That decision proved to be very unwise when the little girl proceeded to chuck the souvenir back towards the field of play, surrendering a valuable souvenir from one of Jeter’s final games. Whoopsies.
It’s likely that this girl had absolutely no idea what she was doing and just wanted to throw a damn baseball, but I’d like to imagine that this was an act of protest against the Jeter circlejerk that has consumed baseball over the past few months. Either way, her parents’ reactions are the best.
