In one of the more scary moments of the 2013 MLB season, Braves’ right-fielder Jason Heyward was drilled in the head by a pitch from Jonathon Niese of the Mets and hit the deck immediately. Heyward was on the ground for a few minutes as medical staff tended to him and was then escorted to the clubhouse. It did not look good and we will update you as we know more.
It is hard to tell where the ball hit him exactly, but we are hoping that the ear-flap of his helmet took the brunt of the 90 mph fastball.

Citi Field is equipped with x-ray facilities. When Tim Hudson broke his ankle a trip to the hospital wasn't necessary.
