We’re about halfway through the 2015 MLB regular season and so far it’s been nothing short of spectacular.
With the All Star break just around the corner, several players stand out as award-winning candidates. Some are the same old players we expect to put up stellar numbers, while others have broken out as pleasant surprises.
Of course, there can only be one winner for each award, so here are your midseason front-runners:
AL MVP – Miguel Cabrera, 1B, Detroit Tigers
Cabrera has been his usual MVP self so far in 2015. His astounding 1.043 OPS leads the American League, and he also holds league leads in batting average and RBI. His home run numbers are down slightly, but we all know he’s more than capable of turning that around.
Honorable Mentions: Josh Donaldson, Mike Trout, Prince Fielder
