Hanley Ramirez, who signed a big money deal to return to the Red Sox this Winter, had quite the Opening Day performance in Philadelphia on Monday. Ramirez hit two of the Sox’ five home runs in their 8-0 win over the Phillies, including a grand slam in the ninth inning off of Jake Diekman.
Upon returning to the dugout, Hanley’s inspection of his bat revealed that he brought in four of his five RBIs on the strength of splintered wood. His teammates seemed impressed.
