The game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs on Monday took a very unfortunate turn in the second inning when a foul ball hit a fan in the back of the head.
A foul ball hit by Starlin Castro rifled behind home plate where the fan was standing with her back turned to the field of play. While the stadium does have a net to prevent balls from sailing into the crowd at high speeds, the woman was standing too close to the net and she immediately crumpled to the ground after being hit by the baseball.

The fan had to be escorted out of the stadium on a stretcher. According to Chicago Sun-Times Cubs beat writer Gordon Wittenmyer, the woman appeared to be conscious.

Hopefully, she’s alright.
