After speedy Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon tallied his 52nd stolen base of the season with a swipe of second base against Braves pitcher Ervin Santana last night, a hilarious showdown ensued that featured Santana daring Gordon to proceed to try and take third.
Santana’s lucky he didn’t get called for a balk as he egged Gordon on from the rubber, as he appeared to flinch his shoulders from the set position. No harm came from the challenge, which was politely declined by a chuckling Gordon before Santana stepped off and reset.
Ervin and the Braves got the last laugh, though, as Atlanta won 3-2.
